Vanessa Messig is a self taught artist with a fascination and deep interest in Australian fauna and flora. Together with a passion for drawing, Vanessa studies and captures the strength, character and structural movement of Australian flora and fauna. Vanessa animates her composition by expressing the beauty and diversity of Australian wildlife in her artwork. Vanessa explores a range of mixed media to portray in her art the fine detail for which she is renowned. An expert use of water colour and pencil distinguishes Vanessa’s work.

ALCOA AUSTRALIA
Vanessa was commissioned by Alcoa of Australia to do a series of themed wildlife calendars for their Australian and International client base.
Themes include: Birds of Australia, Butterflies of Australia, Beetles of Australia, Marsupials and Monotremes of Australia, On Earth’s driest continent – Marine and Aquatic Species, Diversity, cooperation, and the rhythm of life – Mammals, Insects, Plants, with the inclusion of some rare and extinct species.
COMMONWEALTH GOVERNMENT CULTURAL GIFT PROGRAM
In 2007, selections from Vanessa’s art, owned by Alcoa Australia has been donated to the Commonwealth Government Cultural Gifts Program and will be on permanent display for public view at the Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, Perth, Western Australia and The Royal Woman’s Foundation, Melbourne, Victoria.

Some of Vanessa’s commissioned work includes descriptive wildlife illustrations for Journal articles and technical, scientific illustrations displaying anatomies of specific fauna and flora species.
Vanessa Messig also illustrated a series of wildlife illustrations for the AG Department Headings, these include: Corroboree, Microbits, Tribute, Opinion, Great Reading, While the Billy Boils, My Favorite Place and On the Wallaby.
